July Director’s Note

We are finally getting back to normal. We waited six months to find the correct person to be our next Office Admin. I believe God has chosen the right person and we just needed to be patient—another reminder that God’s timing is perfect. Speaking of timing, getting shipments out has been horrific! Ports around the world are opening and closing…

Papua New Guinea Shipment

We continue to send supplies to the Nazarene hospital in Kudjip. It’s hard to believe that our first shipment back in 1992 was sent to Kudjip. Currently, the medical supplies are driven over to Todd Winters in Medford, Oregon, and added to other items he has collected, then sent to PNG. We are thankful for the ongoing relationship and the…

Guatemala Shipment

On July 8th, we loaded and shipped a 40-foot shipping container headed to Guatemala. This shipment is headed for Transitions Foundation in Antigua, Guatemala. This foundation helps people with mobility issues. The shipment included 201 wheelchairs, 154 canes, 93 pairs of crutches and various other medical equipment and supplies. This is our 7th shipment to Transitions Foundation since 2004.

6th Syria Shipment on its Way

On June 4th we loaded and shipped a 40-foot shipping container headed to Northern Syria. 100-degree heat in a metal box did not deter this group from getting the job done. This shipment is sponsored by Global Gateway Network and Multi-Faith Alliance for Syrian Refugees. This is the sixth shipment we have sent to Syria. We are currently working on…

5th Syria Shipment Arrival

Micah Smith of Global Gateway Network sent these photos showing our last Syria shipment arriving at a Mediterranean port on February 19th. From there the medical supplies were loaded into a truck and traveled to a clinic where they will help to provide displaced Syrians with medical treatment.

New Office Admin – Janet Hascall

Janet Hascall has joined the HoHNW staff as our Office Administrator. Here’s her story in her own words: “Greetings, I am Janet [Mathisen] Hascall. Just a little snippet about me and what brought me to Hands of Hope NW… I am a local gal, love Jesus and His Word! In 2005, I was praying about going to Thailand to support…

February Director’s Note

As many of you know, I tested positive for the COVID virus. The first few days were a little rough but I started feeling better quickly. Now I’m working through fatigue. Sleeping 12-16 hours is not normal for me. Hopefully this phase will show improvement soon. Several of the staff and volunteers also contracted the virus. All are doing well…

Local Equipment Loan – Walking for the first time!

HoHNW volunteer, Carol Coose, sent us this touching story. “Here’s Lindsey beginning to use the tiny walker HoH loaned to my niece, Shelly, when she first became the caregiver for her granddaughter in 2018. My niece, Shelly Vickery, and her husband Paul have now adopted Lindsey who is now walking fully on her own! Lindsey has a genetic disorder called Pitt-Hopkins…
