July 2014 Highlights: Guatemala / Nigeria
What an amazing two months! One shipment on May 29 and three in June. Since our last newsletter we shipped full loads to Guatemala and Nigeria. This is the third container we have sent to Transitions in Guatemala. Transitions not only assists those with disabilities to receive wheelchairs, but 75 percent of their employees are disabled themselves. We received a thank-you note from Shirley Gremyachev, Director Universal Aide Society, after reading the list of equipment and supplies for Guatemala.
“Wow that is fantastic for sure. May God give you an extra portion of strength and joy for your efforts. The poor in Guatemala will be over the moon with thanks. God bless you all. Shirl.”
Universal Aide Society coordinated payment of the shipping costs.
Eleven volunteers from the Nampa Fred Meyer store came on loading day, June 26, to pack the truck for Guatemala. They helped load 52 wheelchairs, 88 pairs of crutches, 70 walkers, and much more. Fred Meyer encourages their employees to volunteer in their community and we’re glad they picked Hands of Hope NW.
