Director’s Note: October 2018
I have received questions about why we are building a new parking area. The new parking lot is Phase 1 of our long-term project to build a larger warehouse where we are currently. At this time we simply need more space for volunteers, clients, and staff to park. Our existing overflow parking is on dirt and the new parking lot will create a lot more parking. The house on the corner of S. Powerline and Iowa was renovated a few years ago for use as an office. Now that the parking lot is being built, we will be ADA compliant and it will allow us to receive an occupancy permit. Right now, the house is being used for storage of medical equipment. On shipping days we lose our parking spaces and everyone parks on the street or in the dirt.
Phase 2 will be the addition of a larger warehouse behind the current one. We have conceptual drawings of Phase 2 available for viewing at our Missions Center. Once we know when the parking lot will be finished, we will plan and schedule a ribbon cutting ceremony. If weather permits, we will BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs to help celebrate the completion of Phase 1. I am always available and willing to meeting with our donors and volunteers for lunch or at the mission center. Call the office or send me an email to set up a time to meet.
