2020 Trauma and Emergency Management Program
Here’s a thank-you report from Dr. Chuck Washington on his medical mission to Asia.
“Thank you so much for your support of the 2020 Trauma and Emergency Management Program! The 2020 Trauma and Emergency Management Program occurred during the last week of January/first week of February in Mae Sot, Thailand. The course was hosted by the Karen Department of Health and Welfare. We trained 41 medics and community health workers. We had 8 trainers that came from Idaho, New Mexico, and Washington state. We brought donated supplies from Hands of Hope NW.
Your donations went to support the training and buy much needed supplies for the medics. The training covered a wide range of medical and trauma topics. During the training we discussed the many sick patients the medics cared for and how they put their skills to use. The course focused on hands-on training with simulation and models. We also worked on training skills so that the medics would be able to train other medics in the future. In 2019, the medics took care of many patients with major traumatic injuries and very ill medical patients. The health needs in the ethnic minority areas will continue for the foreseeable future.
Thank you again for your support. Sincerely, Chuck Washington”
